Work
120+ hours in the past 14 days at work is not cool. I've been working on a new version (almost completly rebuilt) of our internal People Directory application (thus no link possible). A lot of that time was demonstrations, last minute changes and scope-creep. It was rolled out on Saturday (pretty easily), and today has been very busy resolving bugs (some mine, some not mine). bleh.
Weather & Play
We got to play at the park every day this COLD week. It's been 3 degrees F here (feeling like -8). The snow is about 4 inches deep where it hasn't been walked on already and the pond in one of the parks we go to (Goodale Park) is completly frozen over except for the area around the fountain. We walked all the way across the frozen part and would have tried to do some sliding, but there was a lot of snow on top of the ice. Alternatly, on the sidewalks, there's a lot of ice under the snow. Anita is tired of the weather, but it's still kind of novel to me. Another week or two of this and i might have a different story, but i expect it will warm soon (enough to melt the snow at least).
John Update
John is in Texas today - on a bus - going to Tuscan AZ. He's got a job already and looking at some apartments to stay at. He's really interested in the international Gem show [1] [2], there, soon (also, it's creating jobs for him). He's also commited to getting into a massage school there, and establishing residency. I'm not trying to talk him into coming to Columbus or taking things slowly. His plans sound good; he's motivated and hopeful. Honestly, he is probably doing exactly what's best - i'll just miss him.
I'm emailing cool looking people in Tuscon on Myspace.com about John.
